Schools are keen to attract to their governing bodies people from the community who can bring energy, experience and fresh ideas. You do not need to be an expert in education – interest, enthusiasm and commitment are more important. You do not need to be a parent to have the makings of a good governor. Retired people and those involved in the local business community can have much to offer. We all have a stake in the education of children today because they will become our politicians and doctors, entrepreneurs and carers of tomorrow.
