Flexible Provision in a School Setting
Yorke Mead has a school based Nursery offering 30 hours provision to all children. Parents of children not eligible for the government 30 hours free childcare scheme are able to buy additional hours above the 15 hours standard entitlement should they wish to.
Our Nursery offers parents the flexibility to choose how their child takes their entitlement, enabling parents the option of extending some days, and not attending other days. Our only stipulation is that children must be at Yorke Mead Nursery for at least 15 hours each week and attend full sessions. Days must be set in advance to ensure staffing ratios are maintained.
Our Nursery operates between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm term time only. Sessions are organised as follows.
- Morning : 9:00am – 12:00noon
- Afternoon: 12:00noon - 3:00pm
- (Lunch Club 12:00noon – 1:00pm)
If you would like to know more about our Nursery or the admission process please contact the school on 01923 778420.

We are aware that our Nursery offers are made before Hertfordshire County Council allocate places for Reception. For Parents with children in consecutive years (Reception and Nursery) this can sometimes cause issues with children being placed in different schools. If one of your children is offered a place in Reception at Yorke Mead, but you do not have a place in our Nursery, the Governors at Yorke Mead will endeavour to accommodate Nursery aged children with an afternoon place until a morning place is available.
