Key Stage 1
Children in Years One and Two are in Key Stage One. In these years learning is very practical in nature as they children learn the skills necessary to be able to tackle more written or recorded work.
We follow the National Curriculum at Yorke Mead, through a creative curriculum approach. This involves exploring and linking subjects together through a ‘topic’ or umbrella approach. Children continue to have the opportunity to learn through play and classrooms in Key Stage One will have role play areas, small world and construction toys and sand or water trays.
Where possible the curriculum will be brought to life with educational visits or visitors.
